Data Usage Policy
Last Updated: Oct 15, 2024
At Wispr, we are committed to protecting your data and take your privacy very seriously. This Data Usage Policy, along with our Privacy Policy, describes how we handle data within Wispr Flow. By using Flow, you agree to the terms outlined in this Data Usage Policy. In the event of a conflict between this Data Usage Policy and our Privacy Policy, the terms of our Privacy Policy shall govern.
Introduction
Flow is a Desktop and Mobile application that runs in the background, allowing personalized voice dictation anywhere on your computer or phone. When activated by you, Flow transmits your audio to our servers for conversion to text, which is then pasted into the active textbox on your device.
Flow enhances the quality of your outputs by using different types of information.
- App Usage Information: Flow analyzes the app you are using when dictating to help format the text output correctly (e.g., formal for emails, casual for messaging). It also looks at the text in the box you’re typing in, which allows you to edit existing text with commands such as “Hey Flow, translate this to Spanish for me.” Further, Flow may use edits that you make to Flow’s outputs for more accurate, personalized future results only for you.
- Context Awareness with App Content (Optional): Flow’s Context Awareness feature is used to better recognize specific words, such as unusual names. If enabled, it allows Flow to access limited, relevant active app content from the specific app in use (such as the text on the screen), using standard accessibility permissions.
- Model Training (Optional): If enabled, Flow may use your data to help train its models, improving the service for everyone.
Data Collection and Usage
Default Mode
- Data Security: We use industry-standard encryption (TLS) to protect your data, including your audio and transcripts. Your data is encrypted during transit and at rest on our servers. Only authorized personnel can access it, and we conduct regular security audits to keep your data safe. We also take industry-standard measures to de-identify your data. Moreover, we store your data only for the minimum time required to provide and protect the services. For example, we may need to access your transcripts in order to troubleshoot the outputs of our generative AI features. Furthermore, your data is not used for model training unless you opt in to improve the model for everyone.
- We Never Sell Your Data: Your data is never sold – our business model is based on selling software, not your information.
- Third-Party Services: In some cases, Flow may rely on trusted third-party services such as OpenAI or Anthropic to improve outputs. Your data is never used to train these services and will be deleted after 30 days.
Improve the Model for Everyone (Optional)
If you choose to help us improve Flow for everyone, you can enable this feature in the app settings. By default, this feature is off. If enabled, Flow may use your data, like audio, transcripts, and corrections, to train its models. This is completely optional, and we take industry-standard measures to de-identify your data.
Controlling Your Data
Manage Data Sharing
- Improve the model for everyone: Toggle this setting in the app’s menu if you want to share data to help train our models and improve Flow.
- Use Context Awareness: Toggle this setting in the app’s settings to enable or disable the Context Awareness feature.
Reporting a Transcript
- If you need to report an issue with a transcript, simply open Flow, go to the history tab, and click the “Report” button next to the transcript. This sends us the audio, transcript, and error logs to investigate the issue.
Deleting Your Data
- To request data deletion, contact support+privacy@flowvoice.ai from the email address associated with your account. Include your name and a clear request for deletion of all data associated with your account, and we’ll handle the deletion for you.
Modifications
- We reserve the right to modify this Data Usage Policy at any time. Any changes will be effective upon posting the updated version on this page. If a modification meaningfully reduces your rights, we will notify you (by, for example, sending you an email or displaying a prominent notice within the Services). The notice may designate a reasonable period after which the new terms will take effect. Modifications will not apply retroactively. You are responsible for periodically reviewing this page to ensure you are aware of any updates.
